New CBSE Class Xth Exam Policy:

CBSE has introduced a new exam policy for class Xth that will come into force from 2026 onwards. Following changes have been introduced by the  CBSE:

  • From 2026 onwards, Xth board exams will be held in two phases i.e. with one phase to be held between February 16th  and March 6th 2026 and the second phase to be held between May 5th and May 20th 2026

  • Both the first phase and second phase examinations will act as supplementary exams. If, after the conduct of first phase of examinations, a student wishes to improve his/her scores, then he/she can re-appear for the board exams in the second phase

  • This scheme is in line with the recommendations of the National Education Policy (NEP) which called for reducing the “high-stakes” nature of board exams and providing students alternative opportunities to improve and better their scores.

  • A student can choose to skip particular subjects in the second phase if he/she feels satisfied with the scores of the particular subject in the first phase

  • Final marksheets will be released only after the successful completion of the second phase of examinations in May
