The existence of God has been a highly debated topic for thousands of years. We all, at one point, might have wondered what God really is, or if God actually exists? Let us explore this topic.
We might have thought at one point that God is somebody who sits in the skies. The Vedas explain that God is everywhere and present in everything. God is explained to be the power that makes the sun shine, the plants grow, and supports our life. The Vedas say, “Everything that exists is Brahman,” or the Supreme spirit.
The Bhagavad Gita explains that God can take many forms. Sometimes, God takes the shape of Krishna, or Rama, or takes the shape of Durga, to help people through their suffering and teach lessons. But at the deepest level, God is formless, space, infinite, and beyond what we can see or touch.
The Upanishads state that God is like the wind- something you can’t see, but you can feel. When you see kindness, love or beauty in the world, that is the presence of God, as many people also feel near to God when they are praying, meditating, or giving charity to others.
Some people trust God, drawn to His existence through some kind of faith or a trustworthy source, such as an authentic and reliable teacher of wisdom. Others look into the universe and experience a feeling that there is something larger than the universe, possibly God but not limited to God.
Ultimately, whether you can see God or touch God, what matters is how you live your life. The Gita and Upanishads offer a fairly consistent message that being loving, kind, and honest in life brings you closer to God
So, does god really exist? God exists for many people, and many people would argue they don't have the answer yet they may still feel they have some kind of answer. Keep asking questions and looking for answers, keep learning, and keep wanting to live in goodness.
