Understanding the MPSC Exam
The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) conducts the MPSC Rajyaseva exam for various administrative positions within the state government. Similar to the UPSC exam, the MPSC consists of three stages: Prelims, Mains, and Interview. These stages are designed to comprehensively assess candidates' knowledge, skills, and suitability for administrative roles.
Preliminary Examination
The Preliminary examination comprises two papers, each carrying 200 marks. Paper-1 is an objective-type paper testing general awareness, current affairs, and logical reasoning. Paper-2 consists of 80 multiple-choice questions, each carrying 2.5 marks. However, there is a penalty for incorrect answers, where 1/4th mark is deducted for every wrong answer.
Main Examination
The Main examination is extensive, featuring six papers covering a wide range of subjects such as history, geography, governance, and optional subjects chosen by candidates. These papers evaluate candidates' knowledge, analytical abilities, communication skills, and overall personality.
Interview
Candidates who pass the mains are called for an interview or a personality test. Those who clear it are offered services by the state government.
