This exam is conducted every year for Group B and C posts. SSC CGL notification will be released on June 9. The top post in SSC CGL is Income Tax Inspector. The SSC CGL exam paper is divided into Tier I and Tier II. 

SSC CGL 2025 Vacancies

Although the total SSC CGL vacancies 2025 will be announced in the official notification, estimations can be made from previous years. In the past, vacancies have ranged between 7,000 to 10,000. Vacancies depend on the requirements of each department.

Tier I is qualifying in nature, while Tier II determines merit. For effective preparation, solving the SSC CGL last year question papers and the CGL previous year paper sets is critical. These help the aspirant know what to study, but also how much to study.

Graduation in any discipline from a recognized university.

POST-SPECIFIC QUALIFICATION

For Junior Statistical Officer (JSO): Bachelor’s Degree with at least 60% in Mathematics at 12th level OR Bachelor's Degree with Statistics as one subject. - For Assistant Audit Officer (AAO): Desirable qualification includes CA/CS/MBA/Cost & Management Accountant/Masters in Commerce or Business Studies.

Age Limit

Varies by post: Generally between 18 to 32 years. Specific posts have different age brackets

Age Relaxations

  • OBC: 3 years 

  • SC/ST: 5 years 

  • PwD (UR): 10 years 

  • PwD (OBC): 13 years 

  • PwD (SC/ST): 15 years


Nationality

Citizen of India or of Nepal/Bhutan.

  • A Tibetan refugee, who entered India before 1st Jan. 1962.

Number Of Attempts

No fixed limit. Candidates can apply as long as they fall within the age limit and educational criteria.

STUDY TIPS AND STRATEGIES

1. Understand the Exam Pattern & Syllabus Thoroughly

  • Understanding the syllabus carefully is the first step in the preparation for this exam. It helps you to know Paper 1 and Paper 2 thoroughly and helps you prepare accordingly. 

  • Download the official syllabus and analyze it carefully.

  • Prioritize topics with high weightage from past years.

 2. Create a Realistic Study Plan

  • Allocate time daily for both Paper I and II. Set a specific time period that you will devote to Paper 1 and to Paper 2. 

  • Divide the syllabus into weekly goals and track your progress.

  • Reserve last 30 days for revision and full-length mock tests.

 3. Refer to the Right Study Material

FAQ:

Q1. How to get Registration number and Password, if a candidate forgets it?

Go to ‘Forgot Password’ link in the Login section on https://ssc.nic.in and enter required details. On verification through email or mobile OTP, the Registered email-id and Registration Number would be displayed on the screen. You will be prompted to change password. Set your new password and keep it safely for future use.

Q2. I did not receive registration number and password on the email.

You may check the ‘Spam’ folder in your e-mail. If email is not received even in the Spam folder, it is likely that you have entered wrong email-id. You may contact Helpline of the concerned Regional Office through a call or email.

Q3. I am unable to upload my photo and signature while applying for one time Registration.

Check size and format of photograph and signature files. Scanned colour passport size photograph should be in JPEG format and file size of the photograph should be in the range of 20 KB to 50 KB. Image dimension of the photograph should be about 3.5 cm (width) x 4.5 cm (height). Similarly, scanned signature file should be in JPEG format having file size ranging from 10 KB to 20 KB. Image dimension of the signature should be about 4.0 cm (width) x 3.0 cm (height). The image of the signature should occupy at least 75% of the frame.

Q4. What is the procedure for onetime Registration? 

For one time registration, click on ‘Register Now’ link provided in login section on SSC website https://ssc.nic.in. Meticulously follow the instructions given in the Registration webpage.

Q5. I have registered in 2017. Can I apply for examinations of the Commission in 2019? 

No. After the launch of Commission’s new website on 20-07-2018, Registration Number and Password allotted prior to that date cannot be used. The candidate would require to register afresh.
