The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the SSC CHSL exam every year to recruit candidates for the posts of Lower Division Clerk (LDC), Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), Postal Assistant (PA), Sorting Assistant (SA), Data Entry Operator (DEO), and Data Entry Operator (Grade A). Be sure to check the eligibility at the SSC portal, https://ssc.nic.in. Candidates should be aware of the detailed eligibility criteria before submitting the SSC CHSL online form 2025. Candidates should fill out the application only when they fulfil all the criteria mentioned in the official notification, because the candidature of the candidate remains provisional till the final document verification by the Commission's officials.

Exams like SSC CHSL are options for those wishing to appear for SSC after 12th. The exam is conducted in 3 tiers. Tier I of the SSC CHSL exam is an objective-type test conducted online. It consists of 100 questions divided into four major sections:

CHSL TIER-2:

Tier-2 will be conducted in two sessions - Session-1 & Session-2, on the same day. 

Session I will include conducting Section-1, Section-2, and Module-1 of Section-3. 

Session 2 will include conducting Module 2 of Section 3.

Tier-2 will consist of Objective-Type, multiple-choice questions, except for Module-2 of Section 3. The questions will be set in English and Hindi, except for Module 2 (i.e., the English Language and Comprehension module) in Section 2.

  • Skill/Typing Test

Tier III is a qualifying round and differs based on the post applied for:

Typing Test (for LDC, JSA, PA, SA)

  • English: 35 words per minute

  • Hindi: 30 words per minute

  • Test Duration: 10 minutes (15 minutes for PwD candidates)

Skill Test (for Data Entry Operator)

  • Data entry speed: 8,000 key depressions/hour

  • Duration: 15 minutes

  • Test conducted on a computer

NOTE-  This stage does not carry marks but must be cleared to qualify for final selection.

SSC CHSL 2025 Vacancies

SSC has confirmed a total of 3,437 vacancies have been confirmed, with 3,123 positions for Lower Division Clerk (LDC) and Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), 301 for Junior Passport Assistant, and 13 for Data Entry Operator (DEO).

1. Understand the Exam Pattern & Syllabus Thoroughly

  • Understanding the syllabus carefully is the first step in the preparation for this exam. It helps you to know Paper 1 and Paper 2 thoroughly and helps you prepare accordingly.

Q1. How to reprint my offline bank challan?

ANS. Login using your ‘Registration Number’ and ‘SSC Registration Password’ in the login section of the website. Click on the ‘Download Offline Challan’ link of the concerned examination in the ‘Latest Notifications’ Section in your Dashboard. 

Q2. What is meant by the application status showing “Provisionally Completed” or “Provisionally Accepted”? 

ANS. The online application has been submitted successfully. It has been accepted provisionally by the Commission because the details filled by you have not been verified by the Commission. 

Q3. Can I change my address details photo, signature etc. before applying?   

ANS. Yes, you can change it before applying to an examination. Login to your account using your login credentials, then Click on ‘Modify Registration’ and make necessary changes.

Q4. I want to change my typing medium in respect of Skill Test/ Type test. 

ANS. After submission of the online Application, change of typing medium is not allowed. 

Q5. What is the crucial date for reckoning of age-limit and essential qualifications for an examination? 

ANS. Crucial dates for reckoning of age-limit and essential qualifications are mentioned in the Notice of the concerned examination.

Q6. For which advertised post, a PwD candidate is eligible to apply?

ANS. The candidature of PwD candidates are finally considered only for those posts which are identified as suitable for them. Therefore candidates may see the Notice of the concerned examination.

Q7. How many vacancies are there for a particular SSC Exam? 

ANS. The tentative vacancies of various examinations as reported by the User Ministries/ Departments concerned are available on the website of the Commission under the heading of “Candidates Corner”. Vacancy status for different examinations is updated from time to time.

Q8. Is there negative marking in the Examinations conducted by the SSC?

ANS. The specific information about the negative marking is given in the Scheme of Examination published in the Notice of the concerned Examination.

Q9. Is normalization adopted in the Examinations conducted by the Commission?

ANS. The information regarding normalization for an Examination is given in the Notice of that Examination. Normalization is adopted only in multi-shift examinations.
