Junior Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST) is a national-level exam conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for admissons to Class 6 and class 9 of Junior Navodalya Vidyalaya.
Recently the exam dates of JNVST for class 6 and class 9 phase-I have been released. The exams for class 6 and class 9 are scheduled on 1st December 2025 and January 2026.

Eligibility Criteria:
For Class 6:
-
Only candidates from the concerned district where the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya is located are eligible to apply

Candidates seeking admission must not have been born before May 14, 2014 and after July 31, 2016.

Candidates must be studying in class V in any of the recognized government school located in the same district
-
A candidate must be studying in class V for the whole of academic session in Government or Government-aided schools or “B” certificate competency course of National Institute of Open Learning in the same district where he/she is seeking admission

A candidate seeking admission to class VI must have passed class III, IV and V from a government or government school.

No candidate is allowed to appear for the exam a for a second time. Particulars in the submitted form will be verified and if the candidate is found as a repeater, he will not be allowed to sit for the exam.
For Class 9:

Candidates who wish to take admission in class 9, must clear the LEST (Lateral Entry Test), which means that the test for admissions to class 9 will only be conducted when vacancies are available.

Candidates must be between 13-15 years of age on the 1st May of the year of admission for which selection is sought.
Age limit:

A candidate seeking admission must be within age group of 10 to 12 years.
