What Is Our Purpose On Earth?

What Is Our Purpose On Earth?
News

You might have thought to yourself why you are alive and what purpose you are put on Earth for. Hindu scriptures give us insight into these topics which may offer you a deeper understanding.

Hinduism explains four goals in a person’s life which they should achieve, called Purusharthas. These are Dharma, Artha, Kama, and Moksha

  • Dharma means performing one’s duty and living one’s life the right way, with a good heart, honesty, and moral integrity.

  • Artha is all about tending to your wealth, as wealth itself is not a bad thing. The Vedas actually say it is encouraged to earn money and be successful, as long as you do it honestly, and do not become greedy.

  • Kama means enjoying life’s little pleasures from love, friendship, arts, or just plain fun. It is great to pursue happiness through these ways, while being certain not to harm others in doing so, and while also remembering one’s other duties.

  • Moksha is the ultimate goal. It means attaining bliss and freedom from the cycle of birth and rebirth. The Gita tells us, by living your life rightly, and recognizing your true self, we can attain moksha and happiness .

The Vedas and Gita also teach that life is about growing, learning, and helping others. They say that helping others and doing your duty with love brings real joy and peace.

Hindu sacred scriptures understand that everyone’s path is unique. Some people find purpose in studying, some in helping others, and some in prayer or meditation. The most important thing is to live with goodness in your heart and to keep learning ahead.

So, according to our sacred hindu scriptures, Living a good life is to follow your duties, enjoy life’s gifts, earn honestly, and aim for spiritual freedom. By doing this, you can find happiness and help make the world a better place.
